I’m a transplant Texas girl who loves to blog about faith, family, food, and books. I was born in Louisiana but got here as quickly as I could.

I am a follower of Jesus Christ and I love diving into God’s word daily. I share some personal helps along the way for growing in a deeper relationship with Him and share books that have encouraged me in my walk with him.

I am a retired chef… culinary school trained, who loves to cook for family and friends. I still cook for a few clients as a personal chef or for a special event from time to time but I no longer spend 14 hours days on my feet at a catering or restaurant job. I grew up with Cajun, Southern, and Texas traditions. As an adult I have added Southwestern and Mexican cuisine. I love trying new cuisines from around the world, too. We have been part of a Korean church congregation as well as having friends from other countries around the world. I have learned a great deal from the friends around me. My comfort foods come from my Meemaw’s recipe archives and I love a good big hearty casserole to feed a crowd. I have lived in the southern or southwestern United States for my entire life. My cooking reflects those styles. I share recipes and cookbooks and the occasional foodie finds… oh, and PIE!!! Pie is my absolute favorite…both sweet and savory!

I am an avid reader who likes writing reviews. I tend to read nonfiction more than fiction but nothing beats a grand adventure, romping through history with a good heroine or hero, or a twisty mystery to solve. I recommend my favorites in hopes that you will love them, too.

I am also an autoimmune warrior… fighting it daily and finding new ways to live my life as I have had to slow down a bit. Simplicity is a big goal for me these days. I share some of this but it does not sit at the center of who I am. I believe God is sustaining me in this “light momentary affliction” and I am grateful every single day for Him and His provision.

As for my family… I am the wife of a pastor and the mom of four children ranging from ages 17 to 27. I am also the grandmother of two charming little boys. You will see them from time to time here.

I am glad you stopped by and I hope to see you often. I hope something I share encourages you in some way. My goal is to share the journey with those who stop here for a visit. A good kindred spirit is the best medicine for this crazy world. You can also find me over on Instagram occasionally.

Check out our church’s FB and YouTube pages for sermons, music, or to visit if you are in the area.

Hope you bookmark or follow and stop by often. I also invite you to sign up for my monthly newsletter to catch extras and favorites I share from month to month.
